Sweet Chili Wings

https://youtu.be/A2ie0cpwKhw

I live in Atlanta, the city of brunch and buffalo wings. Well, I don't know how factual that statement is, but that's what I say when people come to town to visit, lol! When I moved here from Chicago, I realized ATL had every wing flavor imaginable and some wing flavors I don't want to ever think about. You can categorize these Sweet Chili Wings as a flavor you will think about and want to eat all the time because they taste incredible. Get ready for a flavor party in your mouth; you'll taste sweet, sticky, tangy, and spicy all in one.

Recipe Inspo

I love buffalo wings, one of my favorite wing restaurants in college was Buffalo Wild Wings. Have you ever eaten at BDUBS? For a college student on a budget, it was EVERYTHING! I use to get the Spicy Garlic and Asian Zing wings, with an order of Potato Wedges with cheese. Bdubs Asian Zing Wings were the inspiration behind my immaculate Sweet Chili Wings. The flavor profiles are very similar, but my Sweet Chili Wings have a bit more spice.

What's in the Sauce ?

The Sweet Chili Wing sauce is fantastic! You start with melting the butter on low heat. . Once the butter is melted, you add the brown sugar. Stir the butter and brown sugar mixture together until it thickens and gets smooth. Add the brown sugar and butter mixture to a bowl, and then add in the chili paste and soy sauce. Mix well and then done.

How do I cook the wings?

Prepare to cook your wings by making sure they are totally defrosted. Then pat them dry with a paper towel. Then add these seasonings, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Salt, Black Pepper, and Ground Ginger. You can make these wings 3 different ways; oven-baked, air fried, or pan-fried. Whatever cooking method you decide, you will have to add oil in some way. For oven-baked, add canola oil to your baking pan. If you choose to Air fry these Sweet Chili Wings, add oil to the wings. And lastly, if you want to pan-fry these wings, add cooking oil to a non-stick skillet, preferably a Cast Iron Skillet.

My favorite cooking technique for buffalo wings is frying. Add about 2-3 inches of cooking oil; I recommend Canola Oil. Allow the oil to get hot, and then gently add the wings to the skillet. Cook on both sides for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown. Once done, remove from skillet to a plate lined with a paper towel. The paper towel helps to drain the access oil off. Lastly, toss the wings in the sauce, and you are ready to eat.

Tips and Tricks

One tip I learned that helps me fry the perfect wing is piercing each side with a fork or small knife. Allow the wing to cook for 5 minutes on one side, flip it over and then pierce it. This method helps to ensure your wing cooks all the way through.

Try these wings with french fries, sweet potatoes fries, or roasted vegetables. For added flavor, dip them in ranch or blue cheese dressing.
