Mmmmm, do you see that caramel drizzle?
When it comes to baking, I like to keep things pretty simple because things can get complicated pretty quickly! Caramel Apple Dumplings are quick enough to prepare when you have last-minute guests arriving and delicious enough to make for the holidays. My Grandma, Frances Jean, has been making Apple Dumplings for forever, and she taught me how to make them a few years ago. I remixed her recipe a bit by adding caramel, and OHHHHH Boy and Girl, are they scrumptious!
You can use any sweet apple you want, two of my favorite to use in this recipe is a Gala or Fuji apple. Roll the apples with a scoop of caramel into the crescent rolls for a taste you're going to love. The crescent rolls are then drowned in butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. I mean, what more can you ask for?
You can pair dumplings with a scoop of ice cream or eat them with a hot cup of coffee. Don't let all that extra sauce go to waste; make sure you spoon sauce from the baking pan over your serving.
