Better Than The Fair Homemade Funnel Cakes

Due to Covid, all of our fun fall events are canceled, and we missed out on grabbing a yummy fried funnel cake! We know how much everyone loves them, so my sister Laya B and I decided to make a few dreams come true. Laya has an incredible lifestyle blog that you must check out. The options for toppings are limitless, so hook it up whatever way you'd like.  I've tried it with caramelized apples, strawberry syrup, the traditional powdered sugar, and frosting - all were amazing! Prep Time: 7 mins Cook Time: 5 mins Total Time: 12 mins
Servings 6
Ingredients
  • 2 cup All-Purpose flour
  • 5 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Vegetable Oil (For Frying)
  • Powder sugar, cinnamon, and sugar, chocolate, or fruit topping, frosting (Optional)
Instructions
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a medium saucepan or frying pan over medium heat
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk all dry ingredients together
  3. Add wet ingredients to the dry mix until combined
  4. Line a plate with a paper towel to catch the oil
  5. Check to make sure the oil is hot (370F) -- I like to drop a little batter in there to make sure it's ready
  6. Pour mix into a measuring cup, funnel, pastry bag, or a gallon size Ziplock bag to design your funnel cake
  7. Add batter to oil and cook on each side for about 90 seconds
  8. Dress it to your liking and enjoy
